I assume that since our local NBC news channel showed it this morning, and the local radio station is talking about it, that a lot of non-motorsports fans will see this footage today all over the world.
Say what you want about the severity of the accident, the safety of F1, or WhereAlonsoWouldRatherBe... All I know is that whomever decided to put that large of a logo on the back of the Haas driver suits is getting a raise this week.
I would also like to thank Opposite Lock Twitter Account for the shoutout...

... and for teaching me a lesson that not even Twitter notifications are safe to read when you haven’t watched the race yet. :(
I’m liking Alonso more and more these days.

I didn’t even notice the heap of parts was a car at first, but then inexplicably I saw 2 drivers. I think if the crash would have been live in the broadcast, it would have been even scarier to watch, compared to knowing the outcome.

The announcers didnt at first either. They seemed a bit shocked (which is never good) when they realized that the pile of parts was another car.

Same here. Immediately after they noticed it on TV, and the world feed showed the Alonso graphic, I saw him standing up.
Great sequence of events for viewing a dramatic parts-shedding shunt like that. Seeing him stand next to the car made me say, “Wow wow wow wow” watching the reply instead of “OMG OMG RIP ALO OMG OMG!!!11!”

It is nice to see competitors checking on each other and shaking hands, rather than punching and spitting chewing tobacco at each other

Just watched the race and I have to say that looked like an early 90s era F1 crash.
